Question by M: What do u think about future of ARM and Intel?
Now, ARM doesn’t have so much in big screens. Intel some hours ago talked about Atom Z2420 at CES for mobile phones. The news:
“Bell announced the Atom Z2420 processor for phones, otherwise known as “Lexington.” The goal of the Lexington platform is to provide low-cost phones to emerging markets. The CPU can encode and decode 1080p videos, capture photos at 7 frames per second and offer speedy graphics. He then showed a reference Lexington phone and shot the audience at 7fps.
Lexington handsets also support dual-sims, FM radio, microSD Card slots and Intel’s Wireless Display (WiDi) standard for streaming to TVs. Bell then announced that Acer, Lava and Safaricom will be releasing Lexington phones. He then showed the roadmap for Atom phone CPUs, the next of which is Clovertrail+, a dual-core CPU for phones.”
How is it good in comparison with high-end ARM (such as snapdragon s4 quad core)? I think the number of photos (7) is by a 5 megapixel camera. Intel introduced 7W ivy bridges (were 17 w before), they provide all day battery life that with the performance they provide, ARM is out of battle. Intel also releases this holiday Intel quad core 22 nm called Bay Trail. Another thing in tablets space against lower ARMs. What ARM is doing right now?
Thanks!

Question by Brian: Can I use my Sprint discount at Best Buy?
I get a 23% discount on mobile phone plans from Sprint via my employer. I am able to apply this discount directly on the Sprint website and was wondering if I went to a brick and mortar Best Buy if I could have that discount applied when I sign my contract or if I will need to contact Sprint afterward.
Thanks in advance.

I work for Best Buy Mobile. I think Best Buy Mobile is so much better than going to the carrier store. If you have an email address from your company you can go to your online account and type your email address in and get your discount applied. I did it and it was super easy, because I have an @bestbuy.com email address. If you do not have an email address we are able to put a discount on if you have a discount ID from your employer. I would also bring proof of employment to Best Buy. Discounts on cell phone plans are always a pain to get started, no matter where you get the phone. But once it is started it is well worth it. Plus the phones are cheaper at Best Buy. Also ask the sales person about Geek Squad Black Tie protection…its cheaper than carrier insurance and it covers EVERYTHING (except lost or stolen, and full water submersion). But it even covers a battery, charger, cracked screen, running it over with a lawnmower…you name it…as long as it was an accident. It really is a great deal! Happy Shopping!

Question by americasnextopfashiondesigner: How much should I start the bid for on ebay for this phone?
Samsung SGH S105 (T-Mobile)? It is previously used but the only signs of wear and tear are some small scratches on the outside of it. I’m selling it with another battery, phone covers,hands-free headset, charger, and clip on carrier. I still have the box that it came in and user guide. It’s from 2002. Any idea how much I should start the bid on???

Log on to eBay. Do a search for the item you want to sell. Along the left side, look for Completed Items and click that. This will show you all recent similar items. If the price is in green, that’s the price it sold for. Look at these items to see what starting price was. If price is any other color, the item did not sell. This should help you decide on a starting price. You will also need to decide on a shipping method and price. Absolutely do not list it for less than you are willing to accept. If it does not list for that price, you can relist it at a lower price. Good luck!

A phone that should last a good 3 years is The Nokia 5800 xpressmsic.
The Nokia 5800 is actually a nice phone. Calls sounded good, and battery life was strong. The phone has solid music, video, Web browsing and GPS features, and even though none of these are exceptional, they’re all robust and quite capable compared to other multimedia phones out there. On the other hand, we had hoped to see a more polished interface design, better camera and an overall multimedia performance that could match the N series smartphones
